What are the moral/symbolic parts of Frankenstein by Mary Shelly?

We have to read it over the summer and figure out the symbolism of it, but I have no idea! I have a hard time detecting moral issues and symbols, so to me it's just a story about a science major who's experiment wrong! How does it have to do with man vs. nature? I heard that that was the symbolism in it.
