Why is my starter solenoid melting on my 1984 F250?

Battery ground goes to the engine block . Battery positive goes from battery to one side of solinoid, and then from the other side to the starter, Your key activates the small wire on the solinoid. The melting problem is a DIRECT SHORT somewhere.
